My Approach:
Shaped by years of teaching & guiding real people through nervous system dysregulation.
The methodology behind my trauma-sensitive & trauma-informed yoga nidra.
Yoga Nidra is taught differently across different schools and lineages, each with its own approach to safety.
Here's specifically what you'll find in mine, and why.
My approach draws on permissive, choice-based, invitational teaching. It didn't come from a single text or training alone. It's been shaped and refined over years of teaching real people, and paying close attention to what actually helps their bodies settle. This means:
Permissive, choice-based language, "you may," "if it serves you," "perhaps," used instead of commands, and restated throughout a practice rather than stated once at the start. Permission to move, adjust position, keep your eyes open, or disengage is offered again and again as a practice deepens, not assumed to carry from a single mention.
Non-pathologizing framing. Rather than treating a person's response to a practice as something to correct, I treat it as valid on its own terms. Falling asleep, staying alert, feeling nothing in particular are all valid outcomes, not deficits.
A pre-class ritual in every script, designed specifically to help settle and regulate the nervous system before the guided practice begins.
Where I use imagery, I offer it as one option among several, including the option of no image at all, because even peaceful imagery isn't universally safe, and a fixed picture everyone is guided through can unintentionally exclude the person it doesn't work for.
My offering is one legitimate approach among several real traditions. No approach is more "correct." Each rests on a different theory of what makes a practice safe, and each may land differently in your body and in the bodies of those you teach or guide. The body knows what works, more reliably than any label can.
This is also why you'll see two different labels across my work. My core script packs are trauma-sensitive, built with real care, choice, and non-pathologizing language, for general studio and group settings, and for private clients who don't need the fuller clinical trauma-informed approach. My bespoke commissions can be, and the scripts on Etsy are, built to the fuller standard I'd call trauma-informed, with restated consent, substitutable imagery, and structural flexibility built in for more clinically demanding contexts. My style sits within the modern, integrative lineage of Yoga Nidra, blending the traditional practice with contemporary psychology and nervous system science. Clinical and research settings often rely on standardized scripts, so that delivery stays consistent across a study or protocol. My scripts are written differently: permissive, choice-based, and invitational throughout, so that you and the people you guide are invited toward stillness and position, not directed into it.
